Touching (and being able to feel) is what moves me to work in porcelain. Creating form in a 3 dimensional canvas. I see forms within forms as I alter, sculpt, draw, and incise. I pay close attention to light and shadow to bring out fluid, sensuous forms. Celadon glaze accentuates these details for a more complete experience with my work in porcelain.

Amy Kline is the owner or Pottery West in Las Vegas, NV. Amy was born and raised in Plattsburgh, New York. She began her studies in ceramic art in 1985. Amy received a BFA in Ceramics from Alfred University in 1990. She continued her education at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, NV where she worked as a welder and taught ceramics at the College of Southern Nevada. Amy built Pottery West in 2002. Her devotion to ceramic education is influenced by her parents who taught theater at Plattsburgh State University in New York.

Amy began throwing porcelain in 2005. The light and shadow on the porcelain-white surface inspires her to create incredibly fluid forms. Creating forms in porcelain is a 3-dimensional canvas for Amy to alter, sculpt, draw and incise. Her forms are inspired by her studies in figure drawing and graphic design. Celadon glaze is a natural choice to compliment the details of Amy's work in porcelain.
