THE FIRST TWENTY YEARS OF AN ICON
Specifications: Corkscrew in thermoplastic resin and chrome-plated zamak.
Anna G. A best seller since it was first produced in 1994, the Anna G. corkscrew is a tongue-in-cheek homage to a real woman. Her smiling face has become something of a cult figure over the years, giving birth (so to speak) to a rich family of objects for the table and kitchen in a wide range of materials.
Designed by Alessandro Mendini: Alessandro was born in Milan in 1931. He has edited Casabella, Modo and Domus. He was awarded the prize Compasso d'Oro. Among his most significant works were the Groninger Museum of Groningen, the Casino of Arosa and the Forum of Omegna. He reinvented the Alessi image for whom he has been meta-projectual consultant. He has been a designer, an architect and an image consultant for companies like Philips, Swarovski, Swatch and Bisazza. He died on 18 February 2019.
Since its establishment in 1921, Alessi has gradually evolved, becoming a leading exponent of the “Factories of Italian design”, capable of mediating between the most interesting expressions of international creativity and the public, society and the market. Its mission is to translate these creative expressions into real objects capable of fulfilling dreams and satisfying the public’s desires.
